Effective 1/1/2024, Grove Mutual Insurance Company and St. Joseph Mutual have merged to create Central Lakes Mutual. Our Annual Business meeting is held the first Monday in March of each year, at a time and place determined by the Board of Directors
St. Joseph Mutual Fire Insurance Company was founded on June 24th 1885 in the city of St. Joseph, Minnesota and served the towns of St. Joseph, St Cloud, Le Sauk and St Wendell. The purpose of the company was to provide coverage due to fire, hail and lightning and was a way for members to help each other share expenses in their time of loss.
Total written policies at the end of 1885 were 30, which insured $32,220 in property coverage and had a premium of $126.68.
Grove Mutual Insurance Company was founded as a Minnesota township mutual in 1902. Grove packaged their policies with Grinnell Mutual and North Star Mutual.
